The Stores
You’re not going to find us popping up on any old corner. We stalk every neighborhood we’re interested in and get the low-down before we make our move. We have to make sure we love it (and that there are great places to eat. We do so like to eat). So far, so good, from the tony enclave of Brentwood, California to the retail mecca of Madison Ave, NYC. Here’s a look at the wonderful Velvet neighborhoods to date...
BRENTWOOD FLAGSHIP / LOS ANGELES
Brentwood is the place to see and be seen. It’s upscale, it’s glam and it’s lovely. We’re right next door to the Brentwood Country Mart, a historical landmark from 1948 (that’s historical in LA!). It still has it’s original barn-like design and is home to a carefully curated cluster of retail and restaurants. It’s away from the tourist traps, so the resident celebrities can stop by and go about their business.
13020 San Vicente Blvd, LA, CA 90049.
AFTER SHOP STOPS:
Pressed Juicery - LA is famous for juicing.
This is the place to get your juice on.
Cafe Luxxe - for when your brain needs a boost.
Get a shot of the best espresso on the west side.
Farmshop - locally sourced Californian inspired food from a chef who previously worked at French Laundry and El Bulli. Enough said.
ABBOT KINNEY / LOS ANGELES
Venice is the laid-back epicenter of the city. Abbot Kinney Blvd, the main arterial street, has gorgeous style stars, all your favorite retail destinations next to amazing restaurants and surfers. Lots of surfers. There’s a beautiful hippie luxe vibe to the neighborhood, an easy tempo reflected in the warm sea breeze that fills the streets. It’s chock a block full of eclectic and iconic architecture and the people are wonderfully eccentric. A truly one-off place, Abbot Kinney was the no-brainer location for our second store.
1327 Abbot Kinney Blvd, LA, CA 90291.
WHERE WE GO:
Gjusta - an artisinal bakery perfect for brunch and people spotting.
The Ginger Honey Tea is epic. Yes, a tea is epic.
Intelligentsia - because their coffee is the best coffee to have in your hand while you window shop.
The Tasting Kitchen - the perfect reflection of the neighborhood, this is a unusual, creative, bustling place to eat with mean cocktails to boot.
PLATFORM AT CULVER CITY
Culver City is the up-and-coming neighborhood of LA, full of art galleries, top notch eateries and it’s only a hop, skip and a jump to the ocean. Our design HQ is located here so when we spotted Platform, a high end shopping experience being built we got excited (you will too). Our retail location will be opening here Spring 2016.
8840 West Washington Blvd, LA, CA 90232.
TAKE A BREAK:
Craftsman & Wolves
Thoroughbred
Bluebottle Coffee
SOUTHAMPTON / NEW YORK
They say Paris is always a good idea. We say so is the Hamptons. Summertime doesn’t get any better than a day in the beautiful, quaint town of Southampton, wandering about window shopping and then lolling on the beach. A dream come true.
56 Job’s Lane, Southampton, NY 11968.
BEFORE YOU HIT THE BEACH:
Sant Ambroeous - the best Italian food outside of Manhattan.
Tate's Bake Shop - a Hamptons institution. Their baked goods are not to be missed.
MADISON AVENUE / NEW YORK CITY
The Upper East Side is the perfect blend of NYC’s magic mayhem with a classic neighborhood vibe. A stone’s throw from Central Park and a mere block away from the Met, it’s the place to be and and we're pleased as punch to have our first Manhattan location here.
1133 Madison Ave, NY, NY 10028.
NEIGHBORHOOD EATS:
Amaranth - get a street side table and watch the wonderful
world of the UES go by.
E.A.T. - Eli Zabar’s amazing salad and sandwich shop. Sublime.
ST. CHRISTOPHER'S PLACE / LONDON
A hop, skip and a jump from Bond Street tube, St Christopher's Place is not only full of top notch shops, it's also just off the beaten path so there's an element of peace to the proceedings and it's home to the prettiest al fresco dining in all of London.
16-17 St. Christopher's Place, London W1
PIT STOP:
Carluccio’s - A bright and beautiful authentic Italian with outside dining
for when the rain stops and the sun comes out.
Workshop Coffee Co. - The best espresso in the ‘hood. Great for a grab and go when you’re in a hurry.
